“Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” - Ephesians 6:13 (NKJV)

Priests of Mammon
Written by Pariah
“God’s on the outside looking in.  He doesn’t have any legal entrée into the earth.  The thing don’t belong to Him.  You see how sassy the Devil was in the presence of God in the book of Job?  God said, ‘Where have you been?’  Wasn’t any of God’s business.  He [Satan] didn’t even have to answer if he didn’t want to...God didn’t argue with him a bit!  You see, this is the position that God’s been in... Might say, ‘Well, if God’s running things, He’s been doing a lousy job of it.’  He hadn’t been running ‘em except when He’s just got, you know, a little bit of a chance.”

Before you find yourself compelled by your own righteous indignation at the infuriating discourse above to desist from reading the remainder of this work, allow me to state plainly and unequivocally that these were not the words of my mouth; nor will they be at all endorsed on these pages.  With that said, what manner of person do you imagine the originator of this particular blasphemy to be?  Do you suppose them to be a godless humanist attempting to undermine the power and sovereignty of God through cheap sarcasm and careful trickery?  Or perhaps you have determined them to be a demonic sympathizer with the unholy pursuit of equating the power of Satan with the power of God, thus elevating Lucifer to be “like the Most High”?1  Though either theory, if accurate, would be corrosive in its own right, the truth is far more disturbing and perfidious. Forgiveness in an Unrepentant World
Written by Pariah
Holy Scripture is a repository of invaluable information on any given topic, not the least of which is the topic of forgiveness.  The very act of forgiving is, inarguably, one of the most treasured and priceless of gifts that one man or woman can impart upon another.  The incorruptible value of forgiveness unto all parties involved cannot easily be dismissed or denied.  To forgive is, simultaneously, a selfless act of love as well as a self-conscious effort in emotional renewal.  To be sure, forgiveness is an indispensable blessing when bestowed righteously and accepted humbly; however, can forgiveness have negative consequences or even be stripped of its benefits entirely as a result of its misuse, or even overuse?  In order to effectively and truthfully give a seemingly self-evident response to this question we must look, as always, upon the Word of God:

“Take heed to yourselves.  If your brother sins against you, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him.  And if he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times in a day returns to you, saying, ‘I repent,’ you shall forgive him.” - Luke 17:3,4  Full Article...

Go and Sin No More
Written by Pariah
[The Scribes and Pharisees] said to [Jesus], “Teacher, this woman was caught in adultery, in the very act”...[Jesus] raised Himself up and said to them, “He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first”...Then those who heard it, being convicted by their conscience, went out one by one...When Jesus had raised Himself up and saw no one but the woman, He said to her, “Woman, where are those accusers of yours?  Has no one condemned you?”  She said, “No one, Lord.”  And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.”  -  John 8:4,7,9-11

This timeless passage has proven, through the centuries, to be a treasure trove of personal and philosophical inspiration.  These words expertly exemplify the Lord’s expectation in our treatment of fellow sinners, while simultaneously displaying for us a touching example of the Messiah’s insurmountable love of fallen man.  In all of Scripture, few examples can be found which surpass this recounted tale in the sheer level of hope to be gleaned by the lost and searching believer.  This hope, however, is not wholly without price or responsibility; rather, it is a hope born of sacrifice and sustained by the righteous conviction of those who would claim it.  Just as our one and only Savior bore a cross of shame and painful death, so to must we bear the cross of our salvation§; a cross humbly defined when the very Author of human redemption says, “Go and sin no more.”  Full Article...
